Marilyn ReesProf. Marilyn Rees graduated with a BMus (Hons) from University College Cardiff before continuing postgraduate and Opera School studies at the Royal College of Music. While still there, she made her professional debut with Kent Opera at the Aldeburgh Festival. Roles have included Susanna, Queen of the Night, Zerbinetta and the Bel Canto repertoire. She has worked extensively in recital and oratorio and has toured Japan, USA, Germany and Italy and has broadcast for television and radio. She sang with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Bayreuther Festspiele for ten years. Her special interest in vocal pedagogy led her to establish herself as a full time singing teacher in 1996 when she also joined the vocal department at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Marilyn is now a highly acclaimed and sought-after teacher and has a thriving private teaching studio in London of young and established artists. Her many successful students are enjoying competition success and are performing with the major opera companies. She is a frequent adjudicator, examiner and vocal consultant and gives regular workshops in London. Marilyn is also Professor of Voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, teaches at Cardiff University and is Head of Singing at Junior Guildhall.
